Due to inclement weather, the New Tampa Rotary Club’s concert to raise money for a dog park in Tampa Palms has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 17. Don’t miss it!
The Rotary Club of New Tampa will sponsor “Dog Days of Summer – A Bare Bones Concert” on Sunday, August 17, 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Primrose Park (5307 Primrose Lake Cir.) in Tampa Palms. The concert will feature acoustic, classic rock and folk artists and will benefit the New Tampa Rotary Dog Park, a collaborative project between the club and the City of Tampa. The club plans to break ground on the new dog park this fall.
Area musical artists Pamela Jo Hatley, Bob Thompson and Sam Osborne will perform at the no-frills shindig. Attendees are requested to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, beverages and snacks, insect repellent, and of course, their dog, leash and pooper scooper. Admission is by donation or through an on-site purchase of a brick to be displayed at the new dog park. The festivities also will include “Strut Your Mutt” contests between acts, including Best Tail Wagger, Best Costume, Best Kisser and Best Trick. Prizes will be awarded.
The proposed New Tampa Rotary Dog Park will feature fenced areas for both large and small dogs, with beautiful mature shade trees and grass all around. Drinking fountains and waste disposal will be provided, as well as park benches for owners.
To finance the dog park, the Rotary Club of New Tampa has embarked on a brick paver fund-raising campaign that will be matched by the City of Tampa. The club’s goal is to raise $25,000 to build a premier dog park for area residents. To find out more about ordering brick pavers & other info about the dog park, visit RotaryDogPark.org.
