WC Schools Get Great Report Cards

School report cards are out for the 2012-13 school year in the Pasco County School District (PCSD) and, overall, Wesley Chapel’s public elementary and middle schools once again scored well.

Of the 20 “A”-rated elementary and middle schools in Pasco (which received a “C” from the Florida Department of Education {DOE} this year, a letter grade drop from its “B” in 2011-12), six are Wesley Chapel schools, including Double Branch, Sand Pine, Seven Oaks, Veterans and Wesley Chapel elementary schools, as well as Dr. John Long Middle School.Continue reading

Construction Underway On The Boyette Reclaimed Water Reservoir On Overpass Rd.

The Boyette Reclaimed Water Reservoir, which is expected to be completed by early 2015, will be an average of 12.5-ft. deep and hold more than 500 million gallons of reclaimed water for the dry season.

Construction has begun on Pasco County’s newest water reservoir.

In July, ground officially was broken on the Boyette Reclaimed Water Reservoir (BRWR) project, located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Boyette Rd. and Overpass Rd. The 500-million-gallon storage area for reclaimed water is part of the Pasco County Master Reuse System (PCMRS) and will store reclaimed water during the wet season to prepare for lower supplies during the dry season, as well as allow for more reclaimed water customers.

So, as a former Yankee from “Lawn Guyland,” it’s hard for me to say there could ever be too much good pizza in our distribution areas.

Fugitive Killed After Manhunt Ends With High-Speed Chase, Shoot-Out With Authorities

A fugitive wanted for violent sexual batteries on multiple women, as well as several armed home invasions during the early morning hours of September 6, is dead following a 13-hour manhunt throughout the Tampa Palms area, a high-speed chase through Temple Terrace and a final, desperate shootout with local law enforcement authorities.

Choppers buzzed overhead in the southern section of Tampa Palms and over the University of South Florida (USF) area, as law enforcement officials searched the wooded, conservation areas for 24-year-old Charlie Christopher Bates, a dangerous fugitive facing six counts of armed sexual battery, eight counts of armed kidnapping and one count of armed home invasion, with more charges possible, if the suspect weren’t already dead.Continue reading
