Lawton Chiles Elementary Celebrates Ten Years In Tampa Palms

Lawton Chiles Elementary in Tampa Palms is finally as old as some of its fourth graders.

On November 3, Chiles celebrated “a decade of excellence” with a rededication ceremony to honor the school’s success in the Tampa Palms community for the past 10 years. Parents, teachers and staff members from years past reunited to hear former principals Tom Dessey and Shari Beaubien retell the story of the school’s beginning years and highlight the people who helped it grow. Other notable speakers included Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) superintendent MaryEllen Elia and current Chiles principal Kim Pietsch, who emphasized the impact the community has had on the school’s success.Continue reading

By now, the Rosse Corsa red Ferraris have been tucked safely back into their garages, as have the Lamborghinis, Jaguars and Porsches; however the “Show of Speed,” the first exotic car show ever held at Ciccio’s Lodge in the City Plaza at Tampa Palms Shopping Center, was such a success that it looks like it these cars, along with some other exotics, may have the chance to be shown as often as every month.Continue reading

Near-Perfect Weather At Wesley Chapel Chamber’s Fall Festival!

The weekend of October 15-16 was a tough one for me. Not only was I on deadline with our most recent Wesley Chapel issue, I also had to try to attend and take pictures at two all-weekend events — the Arts & Crafts Under The Palms show and sale (see page 41) and the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce (WCCC)’s Fall Festival, held at The Grove shopping center.Continue reading
