Are you embarrassed by the green mold growing on the sides of your home? Is your oak tree dropping acorns faster than the squirrels can remove them?

One of the most efficient ways to get your home or business exterior clean and looking new again is by pressure washing. It’s the quickest method to get rid of mold, mildew, dirt and grime. Consumers can purchase pressure washers, but both the equipment and the process itself can be dangerous, as the water pressure is powerful enough to cause serious injuries, while some equipment may not deliver the pressure needed to fully clean a surface. Plus, the severity of the mold and mildew that haunts Florida homes and businesses typically requires the skills of a seasoned professional.

That’s why you should call Dina Asuras and Doug Drozd, owners of D & D Pressure Washing, which serves Wesley Chapel, New Tampa, Land O’Lakes, Lutz and many other surrounding areas, using high-grade, quality commercial power washing equipment and cleaners that are safe for any surface.

Originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Asuras and Drozd spent time learning about the specific types of mold and mildew that wreak havoc on the exterior of Florida properties. The couple moved to Florida in 2005 and spent a few years working with a local pressure washing business that had been servicing the Tampa Bay area for 25 years before starting their own business in 2011. Drozd says, “We learned the most effective and safe methods to tackle the worst jobs caused mainly by Florida’s climate.”

Mold spores rapidly grow in the humidity of the south, taking up residence on the exterior walls of houses, rooftops, sidewalks, driveways, fences, decks, lanais and pool enclosures/screens.

Drozd also explains that the pressure washing business in the Tampa Bay area is year-round, unlike his business in the Midwest, where pressure washing was generally a job done only during the warmer seasons, and was needed to clean driveways, patios, and wood porches and decks.

Mold and mildew issues were not the primary focus in the Midwest, which is the case here in Florida, where his first job using an electric power washer took almost six hours. He quickly learned to use a surface scrubber (a floor-scrubber-like piece of equipment), which works quickly to clean the surface of dirt and stains.

Asuras and Drozd also use a 20-horsepower pressure washing surface scrubber that can extend 40 feet from the ground. They use the right mix of chemicals specific to the safety of the specific surface that is being cleaned, ensuring a long-lasting effect.

“The chemical mix makes a difference in the end result,” says Drozd. “Our clients don’t have to call us six months after a job has been done complaining that their sidewalk or fence is dirty again.”

Quality Service; Fair Prices

“Dina’s attention to detail can’t be matched,” says Drozd. “She has the eyes of a hawk and I appreciate when she catches a spot I might have missed alone.”

Doug and Dina work side by side on every job and never leave until it’s done.

“We don’t leave a job site just because the ‘time’s up,’” Doug says. “There is no hourly rate; the job is done when the surface is clean. Prices are quoted per job and based upon the severity of the issue.

Exterior mold is not only an eyesore to you and your neighbors; mold spores spread and over time and can infect an entire neighborhood. Mold takes advantage of Florida’s humid climate, literally digesting the materials on which it grows. If left unchecked or allowed to grow, mold can cause major wood rot and structural damage to buildings. Plus, exposure to mold is a health hazard, especially for people who have mold-related allergies. Simply inhaling or touching mold spores can produce immediate physical reactions, often mimicking symptoms of hay fever, including itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, difficulty breathing, etc.

In addition to the damage mold can cause, it can become a costly problem if you live in a deed-restricted community that is managed by a homeowners association (HOA), where residents may be fined if they do not maintain their properties to certain aesthetics, according to their community’s specific by-laws.

Laurie Oleson, a Palm Cove resident, posted this testimonial on D & D’s page on Facebook.com:

“Finally! No more letters from the HOA about the mold on my driveway. You guys are ‘the bomb’ for making my driveway look like new again! (I) will recommend you to all my friends in Palm Cove!”

Asuras and Drozd pride themselves on the fact that they do their own work. When you call D & D Pressure Washing, that’s who you get — Dina and Doug. The company is licensed and insured and holds an impressive “A” rating on Angies List.com, the popular online consumer review site for business services.

“Our sole business is pressure washing,” Asuras says. “That’s what we know. We treat your house like it’s our own. We make sure we don’t have to come back for a spot we missed. We’re there until it’s done right.”

Attesting to the owners’ expertise and impeccable service, D & D Pressure Washing was a recent nominee for Best New Business through the Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce. The majority —nearly 85 percent — of their clients are residential homeowners, although D & D also does have several monthly and quarterly commercial clients in the Tampa Bay area, as far north as Brooksville.
