Speeding on the road is never a good idea. Speeding while drunk without pants on is an even worse idea, as one Lutz resident has found out the hard way.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), 41-year-old Kristi Faye Steuber—a teacher’s aide at Paul R. Smith Middle School in Holiday, was arrested just after 1:30 a.m.
. Steuber was pulled over near Oak Grove Blvd.
The PCSO report states that the strong odor of alcohol was on Steuber’s breath and became stronger when she began to speak. The report also says that she was mumbling and slurring her words. The deputy also noticed when he assisted Steuber out of the vehicle, that she was not wearing any pants or underwear and had to remind her twice before she realized it. He then had to ask her twice to put her pants on before she performed field sobriety tests, which she performed poorly, the report states.
Steuber told the deputy that she had several drinks at a bar in St. Petersburg that evening. Following her arrest for a misdemeanor DUI, Steuber’s blood-alcohol content (BAC) was determined to be 0.137, well over the legal BAC limit of 0.08.
Steuber was released on her own recognizance.
Pasco County School District spokesperson Linda Cobbe says that a misdemeanor DUI doesn’t usually result in discipline, but due to the nature of her arrest, Steuber was placed on administrative leave and is meeting with PCSD Employee Relations on February 28 to determine if any disciplinary action will be taken.
