A Wesley Chapel woman and infant have died, following an early morning crash on I-4 near Tampa.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Ruben Molina, 29, of Wesley Chapel, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Entourage van westbound on I-4 around 1:18 on August 3, when he lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the interstate, west of County Road 579.
The FHP report says that the van drove over the shoulder and across a concrete culvert, before traveling up a grass embankment and through a chain link fence. The van flipped over several times and finally landed on its left side.
The front seat passenger, Amanda Lynn Osborn, 30, was ejected from the van and died at the scene, the report says. A five-month-old girl, Madilyna Molina, was transported to Tampa General Hospital (TGH), but later died from her injuries.
Two boys, Elija Molina, 9, and Ruben Molina, 7, also were taken to TGH in critical condition. Molina and a female passenger sustained minor injuries and also were taken to TGH. Molina and the female ejected from the vehicle are the parents of the children in the vehicle. The other female passenger has been identified as Molina’s sister, Marialena Molinda, 26, also of Wesley Chapel.
No one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Any witnesses are urged to call FHP at 631-4020.
