New Tampa already has numerous urgent care medical centers, but none of them are quite like Anista New Tampa, located in the Highwoods Preserve area (near Muvico). Anista New Tampa’s owner Will Welter says the new center is a “one-stop shop” for non-emergency ailments that also handles cosmetic and medical aesthetic procedures for its customers.

Welter opened the area’s newest urgent care center last month.Conveniently located near the intersection of Highwoods Preserve Pkwy. and Bruce B. Downs Blvd., one visit to Anista will likely make you wonder, “Why aren’t all urgent cares like this?”

Anista New Tampa features a comfortable atmosphere and compassionate, professional care that is already making it a hit with the center’s patients.

While you may be walking into Anista New Tampa with a sore throat or a mild fever – the cozy leather coaches, impressive artwork and HD televisions are soothing enough to make you feel better instantly. But, if they don’t do the trick, Anista’s physicians may be able to help. The 2,000-sq.-ft. facility is designed to handle many medical problems than can develop unexpectedly and require immediate attention. The facility is equipped with five exam rooms, a digital X-ray machine and an advanced on-site lab, as well as a fully-staffed office with full-time medical assistants, in addition to a chief medical officer who oversees the operation.

“I couldn’t believe how fast I was in and out of their office,” says Chris Buonomo, a West Meadows resident. “I had pink eye, no insurance and didn’t have an appointment. When I walked in I was seen immediately, I had my vitals taken and I was diagnosed in less than 20 minutes.”

Buonomo’s visit cost him less than $100, which included the consultation, diagnosis and prescription for conjunctivitis medicine.

“We aim to provide cost-effective, high-quality health care,” says Dr. Michael O’Neal, Anista New Tampa’s chief medical officer. “We’re not looking to replace anyone’s family doctor. In fact, we want to complement patients’ primary physicians. We know that sometimes medical attention does not necessary warrant a trip to the emergency room and that most doctor’s offices close at 5 p.m. We’re here to you compliment primary physician.”

To that end, Anista is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekends.

More Than Just Urgent Care

In addition to providing the same health services as other urgent care facilities for your colds and flu, sprains and broken bones, Anista has two other focuses — a medical aesthetics center and a medically supervised weight loss program.

“As our community continues to grow, the need for comprehensive medical services also increases,” says Anista New Tampa spokesperson Christie Hammes. At Anista, patients are welcome to speak with professionals about the cosmetic options available on-site, which include Botox, dermal fillers, laser hair removal and vein treatments and physician-grade skincare and “liquid facelifts.”

Experts at the health care center are trained to perform the non-surgical alternatives to facelifts, which were recently only available as surgical procedures. The liquid facelifts use injectable dermal fillers such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Radiesse, which are often used in combination with more traditional wrinkle reduction treatments like Botox and Dysport.

Hammes explains that Anista has a variety of fillers on hand and can decide what will work best for each patient. Anista aims for the procedures to be as customized as possible, and to meet your desires in terms of results — from a subtle look of more energy to dramatic wrinkle elimination — without the need of an invasive operation.

Dr. O’Neal has been with with the New Tampa office since its opening, as well as with Anista Westchase, where he oversee both operations. With more than 16 years of practicing medicine, as well as being a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice and a former physician for the Toronto Blue Jays. Dr. O’Neal received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida (USF) and graduated from the medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences in Kansas City, MO. His residency training was completed at the USF College of Medicine. Dr. O’Neal says he is excited to bring his experience to this urgent care center, which fills a much needed void in the New Tampa/Wesley Chapel area.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. O’Neal to Anista,” said Welter. “He brings a wealth of medical knowledge and experience and will be instrumental in helping to provide quality health care services to our patients.”

Anista truly is a single place where you can find everything you need to look and feel healthy. The new facility is changing residents’ perceptions of what it means to be an urgent care.
