It’s amazing how many new businesses keep opening in our area, considering the state of the local and national economies, but as long as there continues to be a Business Beat in New Tampa & Wesley Chapel, we will always want to the primary news medium pumping up the volume on those new and revived businesses in our area.

Affordable Pet Hospital Opens In Cross Creek Center

The Cross Creek Center shopping plaza, located at the corner of Cross Creek Blvd. and Kinnan St., had always been home to a veterinarian’s office until that tenant moved further east on Cross Creek Blvd. A few months ago, we started seeing signs for a new affordable pet hospital moving into the same space in the Cross Creek Center.

Well, as it turns out, that wasn’t just a description, it was the actual name of the new vet office — Affordable Pet Hospital. And, veterinarian Rajani Vonteru, DVM, promises that her office will live up to that name.

“Owning a pet can be so expensive these days,” says Dr. Vonteru. “We want to give our patients the best possible care at the most affordable prices possible.”

Affordable Pet Hospital (10028 Cross Creek Blvd.) is open Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-6 p.m., and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sat. For more info and appointments, call 991-9898.

Jessica’s All Brides 2 Be Cuts A Ribbon!

We keep telling you about new things going on at Star’s Organic Spa Group, located in the Seven Oaks Professional Park off S.R. 56 in Wesley Chapel. Well, although the group welcomed Jessica’s All Brides 2 Be, LLC & Formalwear to its location several months ago, Jessica finally had her own Grand Opening and Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony in October.

It was another great party (as always) at Star’s, and it really put a nice spotlight on Jessica’s sweet little store, which is packed with truly magnificent bridal and bridesmaid’s gowns, as well as girls’ and special occasion dresses and even tuxedo options for the groom and his groomsmen.

Jessica really knows her business and would love to sit down with you to find the formalwear that best suits everyone in your group.

For more info, stop in at Jessica’s All Brides 2 Be (2136 Ashley Oaks Cir., Suite 101), call 406-0403 or visit AllBrides2Be.com.

Pebble Creek Golf Club Has Lots Of News

The oldest golf course in New Tampa keeps getting newer, as there is plenty of news to report about the Pebble Creek Golf Club (PCGC).

Of course, the transformation began when owner Bill Place gave the golf course itself a complete, makeover that was completed in 2008. More recently, the club’s banquet room has not only seen its seating capacity roughly doubled, it also has been completely revamped and upgraded.

One person who is really happy about the transformation of the banquet room (which is located adjacent to, but separated from) Mulligan’s Irish Pub inside PCGC is new (see, there’s that word again) sales and catering director Mary Ann Yaney, who raves, “That room is literally selling itself to local brides. It’s a godsend to this club!”

Mary Ann, the former president of the old New Tampa Community Council and founding president of the New Tampa Chamber of Commerce, actually has been at PCGC for several months, but she recently got a new boss, as Place (who also recently purchased Crescent Oaks Country Club in Tarpon Springs) hired new general manager Chris Hendrick just a couple of months ago.

Hendrick actually isn’t “new” to PCGC either. He was the club’s GM back in 2005, but left to run a club up in Pensacola. He says he’s back to try to breathe even more new life into a New Tampa landmark.

“We’ve already changed all of our pricing to play the course to include golf carts with GPS, even in season,” he says. “We’ve also got new member pricing and when you join here, you have reciprocal membership privileges at both Crescent Oaks and Wentworth Golf Club (also in Tarpon). This is just a great place to work.” The Long Island, NY, native has been a Class A PGA pro since 1997.

For more info about golf or having your wedding or other special occasion at Pebble Creek Golf Club (10550 N. Regents Park Dr.), call 973-3870 or visit PebbleCreekClub.com.

1320 Engineering Now Open In Tampa Palms

I have known Mark Pacheco and his son Jonny since we first became back-to-back neighbors in Hunter’s Green 16 years ago.

Mark, a long-time car enthusiast, definitely passed on that gene to his son, as Jonny has been ordering and installing custom rims, body kits, sound systems and accessories for local residents — and creating new looks and rebuilding engines for his own cars — since before he graduated from high school four+ years ago.

He and Mark started 1320 Engineering at that time in a warehouse located near the Skate Park of Tampa. They also had a retail location for a while in Land O’Lakes, but now, 1320 Engineering has opened even closer to home — in the Shoppes at The Pointe in Tampa Palms plaza anchored by World of Beer and Coffee Beanery and located between Stonewood Grill & Tavern and Olive Garden.

Their shop is still being transformed into more of a showroom, although there already are some cool accessories and hot rims on display.

If there’s a car enthusiast in your family, or someone who would appreciate being able to totally transform his or her “rig” this holiday season, you should definitely call or stop into 1320 Engineering as soon as possible — and please tell the Pachecos we sent you!

1320 Engineering is located at 17020 Palm Pointe Dr. For more info, call 973-8816 or visit 1320Engineering.net.
