Detectives from the Tampa Police Department (TPD) are still on the hunt for burglars who recently targeted the Camden Live Oaks apartment complex in Tampa Palms following a string of break-ins.

Since Christmas Eve, TPD says there have been five burglaries in the apartment complex. The thieves usually entered the apartments by cutting the patio screen enclosures and entering through a sliding glass door.

There were break-ins at the same apartment complex earlier last year in which burglars entered by smashing bedroom windows or by kicking in the front door.

The latest burglaries at the apartment complex, located at 5100 Live Oaks Blvd. off Amberly Dr. in Tampa Palms, took place on January 14. The unknown suspects gained access to the interior of three different apartments late at night by prying open the sliding glass doors. Once inside, the burglars stole everything from bicycles and video game systems to digital cameras. Strangely enough, one sweet- toothed burglar also made off with a colorful jar of Laffy Taffy candy.

According to TPD spokesperson Lisa Timmer, all but one of the burglaries at the apartment complex took place during the weekend.

TPD currently has no leads on any of the burglaries, although some fingerprints have been lifted by the TPD Crime Lab.

Any person with information regarding the crimes at Camden Live Oaks apartment complex is urged to call TPD Detective G. McClain at 931-6539.
