Dolce Now Open Inside Meadow Pointe!

By Gary Nager,

Even though it’s located “deep” inside the Meadow Pointe community (at 30004 County Line Rd.), I definitely think it’s worth a short drive (three easy miles from the Shops at Wiregrass mall and only two miles from Bruce B. Downs {BBD} Blvd.) to visit my friend Tarek at the decadent new Dolce Gelato & Crepes Café for mid-morning breakfast, lunch or after any meal.

Dolce, which opens every day at 9 a.m. and is open after dinner, too, has excellent desserts, including authentic Italian gelato, French crepes and Belgian waffles, plus bacon or ham, egg and cheese crepes for breakfast, a variety of Boar’s head fresh-pressed panini sandwiches for lunch, delicious coffee, tea and smoothies and more.

I’ve already sampled a pressed roast beef panini, Dolce’s “Carabanella” (caramel, banana and Nutella spread) crepe and the Butterfinger gelato-topped waffle (with chocolate topping) pictured above.

Please tell Tarek that the Wesley Chapel Neighborhood News sent you and use the coupon from Dolce’s ad on page 37 of this issue to get $1 off any purchase of $4 or more. For info, call 991-0350

City Grill's Cuban Cigars Appetizer

City Grill Opens!

You may have noticed that Winners Sports Grill, which has been located at 5429 Wesley Chapel Village Market on S.R. 54 just east of I-75, has closed. Although a lot of local residents already are loving the place, what you may not have realized is that former Winners owner Gerry Malynowsky already has completely revamped the restaurant into the elegant new City Grill, which is one of the first true sit-down, non-chair restaurants in Wesley Chapel, featuring what Gerry calls “chef-created fresh seafood, pasta and more.”Continue reading

Each of these $3 tacos (clockwise from lower left: the Pork Street, Chicken Flaming & El Cubano Brisket tacos) at the Flaming Taco on E. 7th Ave. in Ybor City are made with fresh, amazing ingredients.

Although tacos aren’t normally what I order when I go to a Mexican restaurant, my friends Jennifer & Travis Davidson and their friends Mary Ann & Keith Cucuzza have opened a new taco stand at 1815 E. 7th Ave. in Ybor City called the Flaming Taco, which caters to not only the club crowd’s “fiery passion for spicy food,” but yours and mine, too.

It may not be easy to find the Flaming Taco (which is located inside the Yo Boys yogurt shop, a little more than a block from the Columbia Restaurant), but if you want delicious tacos featuring words like “all natural,” “grain fed,” “free range,” “no antibiotics” & “black angus USDA Choice beef,” the Flaming Taco has you covered — for just $3 per taco!

Angry Chair’s location on Florida Ave. in Seminole Heights, which should be open early in 2014.

By Matt Wiley | September 14

On August 1, Angry Chair Brewing, owned by Wesley Chapel residents Ryan Dowdle and Shane Mozur, as well as former Cigar City pilot brewer Ben Romano, was approved for a wet zoning license by the Tampa City Council for its future brewery and tasting room location in Tampa’s Historic Seminole Heights neighborhood.

Dowdle says that, if all goes according to plan, he hopes to be serving beers to the public at the new Angry Chair Tasting Room, which will be located at 6401 N. Florida Ave., by early 2014.
