Chick_fil_a_logo.jpg_(2)-3-What now is an empty field at the northeast corner of S.R. 54 and Bruce B. Downs (BBD) Blvd. in Wesley Chapel could soon be home to a long-awaited fast food chain.

According to documents filed with Pasco County, Chick-fil-A is meeting with county staff on August 18 for a possible new location at the 2.31-acre site, which once was planned to become a Race Trac gas station.

However, Chcik-fil-A is proposing a 4,877-sq.-ft. restaurant with an indoor play area and drive-thru lane.

Daryl Johnson of Corporate Property Services will be representing the chain at the meeting. Johnson explains that the plans are not final and that Chick-fil-A is still in talks for the location and doing its due-diligence work to determine if the site is a feasible spot for the restaurant. He says that factors could include traffic counts, wetlands on the site and possible cost of construction.

Currently, the closest Chick-fil-A is located on BBD, near Dona Michelle Dr. Another location is slated for S.R. 56, in front of the future Tampa Premium Outlets mall.

No more information is available at this time.
