A pedestrian has died, after being struck by a Wesley Chapel driver on S.R. 54 on October 28. Click through for more details.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that just before 9 p.m. on October 28, John Charles Ward III, 32, of Wesley Chapel, was driving east on S.R. 54 in the center lane, approaching Livingston Rd. while Douglas Vernon Hendry, 71, of Land O’Lakes was walking north across the same road.
FHP states that Ward’s Ford F-150 struck Hendry head-on. Hendry died of his injuries at the scene and an alcohol test is pending. Alcohol was not a factor for Ward and he was wearing his seatbelt, FHP reports.
The incident remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
