When driving with the windows down, a stray bullet is not usually one of the objects a driver would expect to fly into the vehicle. This was not the case for a grandfather driving through Wesley Chapel.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), a 62-year-old grandfather was driving west along S.R. 54 near Bruce Ln., just east of Saddlebrook Resort, on December 12 when a stray bullet flew through the window and grazed his forehead, just above his left eye.

PCSO reports that the bullet just missed his 13-year-old granddaughter’s head, as she was sitting in the passenger seat. The bullet came to rest after striking the passenger window.

PCSO states that the shooting does not appear to be targeted at anyone, and came from a far distance, as the bullet did not shatter the passenger window when it was struck. Deputies searched the surrounding area, but did not locate a suspect.

No additional information is available at this time.
