The Tampa Bay area may be getting a lot of thunderstorms in the upcoming weeks, but Broadway fans can rest easy, because the New Tampa Players will make sure that, “The sun will come out tomorrow” as they take to the stage with the musical production “Annie.”

This production of “Annie” should not be missed, as it will feature a cast of 47 members, not including a 10-piece orchestra of local volunteers and professional musicians who practice with the show’s music director, Frank Meeking. Fans can catch the play at the University Area Community Devolpment Complex at 14013 North 22nd St., just east of Bruce B. Downs Blvd. and south of E. Bearss Ave.

“Many of the cast members are multi-generational actors,” says Doug Wall, director and president of the New Tampa Players, “We have some actors playing alongside their parents and grandparents.”

According to Wall, this two-week only production of “Annie” will embrace the traditional story line and songs, although he promises that there will be some uniqueness and flair to the play’s dance scenes.

Show times for “Annie” are: Friday-Sunday, August 12-14 and August 19-21, 8 p.m., with an additional matinee on Saturdays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $14 general admission, $12 for students and seniors, and $10 for parties of more than 10.

Tickets and additional information about the show can be found at NewTampaPlayers.org.
