Parents in New Tampa now know how quickly tragedy can strike — sometimes it literally takes less than ten minutes. That is how long parents Moncef and Najet Bouaziz say they took their eyes off one of their seven children, Mujeeb, their one-year-old son, who drowned after tipping into a five-gallon bucket that was left in the garage. The bucket held less than 5 inches of water and cleaning solutions, and was accidentally left in the garage without a lid.
According to reports, Mujeeb was found August 1, upside down in the bucket, around 12:45 p.m. After Moncef and Najet found the toddler in the garage, they called 9-1-1, and Tampa Police Department (TPD) officers hurried to their home on a cul-de-sac in Cambridge II, located just a few dozen yards from Tampa Palms Elementary. Sadly it was too late, as the toddler already had died.
Neighbors who knew the Bouaziz family said they were attentive and caring parents to all of their children.
In addition to his parents, Mujeeb is survived by his five brothers and one sister, who was his twin.
