According to her children, who were in the vehicle, the music was so loud that their mother, who was driving under the influence, couldn’t even hear a tire go flat.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) says Bethany Lynne White, 31, of Wesley Chapel and a nurse at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel (FHWC), was arrested just after 10 p.m. on April 26 for driving under the influence near S.R. 54 and Shelly Ln.

The PCSO report says that White, who was traveling with her two children, ages 9 and 13, had pulled over to the side of the road with a flat tire. A deputy approached to help, but noticed “several signs of impairment,” including glassy eyes, slurred speech and a heavy odor of alcohol from several glasses of vodka and cranberry that she admitted to having consumed earlier that evening.

White refused to participate in field sobriety tests, the report says, despite the PCSO deputy having read her the implied consent clause that she agreed to when she received her driver’s license.

The report says that one of her children told a deputy that the music was so loud in the car that the child had to tell his mother that the tire had blown out. The children also said that their mother had been drinking and was scaring them with her driving. White was arrested on one charge of first offense driving under the influence and two charges of child neglect and was released on a $1,300 bond.
