wawaThe S.R. 56/I-75 interchange is a hot bed for economic growth in Wesley Chapel, and it’s not slowing down, as more businesses and restaurants are meeting with Pasco County about future locations in the Cypress Creek Town Center (CCTC) Development of Regional Impact (DRI).

The latest to stake a claim to our area are coffee giant Starbucks and Mexican fare chain On The Border, a representative for both of which met with county planning staff today.

Documents filed with the county indicate that the freestanding Starbucks will measure 2,118 sq. ft. and feature a drive-thru, while the On The Border will total 5,950 sq. ft.

Calls to Tampa-based Hunt Real Estate (who represented the two establishments in the meeting) were not returned.

Say Wawa?!

Also, just a few miles east on S.R. 56, northeast convenience store/gas station powerhouse Wawa is eyeing a piece of property across the street from Sam’s Club.

A pre-application meeting with Pasco planners is set for August 17 to discuss plans for property at S.R. 56 and Trout Creek Dr., just west of CVS Pharmacy and Bruce B. Downs (BBD) Blvd. Documents indicate that Wawa will be constructing a 6,119-sq.ft. store with 16 fuel pumps.

This will be the first Wawa in the New Tampa & Wesley Chapel area. Currently, the closest location is on E. Bearss Ave. in Tampa.
