Another fatal accident has occurred on I-75 near the Bruce B. Downs (BBD) Blvd. interchange, this one on October 21, marking the second fatal accident in the busy interstate corridor in less than a month.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 27-year-old Gregorio Feliz was traveling southbound in the outside lane on I-75 in his 1994 Isuzu pickup truck at around 3:55 a.m. Sunday, south of the BBD interchange. For reasons unknown, he swerved into the center lane, side-swiping a semi truck.

The FHP release says that the collision caused the two vehicles to rotate and travel onto the grass shoulder. The semi trailer, driven by 54-year-old Juan Esquivel, rolled onto the pickup truck when it came to rest, crushing Feliz, who sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Esquivel and his passenger, 61-year-old Zaragoza William Alvarez, sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
