sr 56Wesley Chapel drivers who are planning on heading south on I-75 from the S.R. 56 interchange tonight should consider another route, as the southbound entrance ramp will be closed.

As part of the project to widen I-75 between Fowler Ave. in Tampa and S.R. 56 in Wesley Chapel, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports that the S.R. 56 entrance ramp onto southbound I-75 will be closed from 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. tonight (January 27) and Wednesday (January 28) night.

FDOT spokesman John McShaffrey says that the closure will allow construction crews to shift the entrance lanes to the right so that work can continue on the unfinished lanes between the ramp and the mainline lanes. No new lanes are being opened at this time, he adds.

The FDOT suggested detour has drivers enter northbound I-75 and exit S.R. 54 (Exit 279), then turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto westbound S.R. 54 and re-enter southbound I-75, which would provide access to I-275 south.

However, if headed further south, drivers also can head south on Bruce B. Downs (BBD) Blvd. and enter I-75 at the BBD interchange.
