Traffic continues to pick up on S.R. 56, ahead of the October 29 opening of the Tampa Premium Outlets mall.

After seven months of construction, it’s official: Simon’s Tampa Premium Outlets mall officially will open on Thursday, October 29, and a job fair has been announced.

The Neighborhood News has learned that the Tampa Premium Outlets mall (located on S.R. 56 just west of I-75) will host a job fair on August 27, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., at the Embassy Suites on USF’s Tampa campus (3705 Spectrum Blvd.).

With 110 stores scheduled to move in, the retailers are hungry for local employees. Although the list of the first wave of stores has not yet been released (an announcement is expected this week), all tenants with fully-executed leases have been invite to attend.

“We usually hold the job fairs about 45-60 days out from the opening date, so it’s still a little early,” Simon spokesperson Les Miller said on July 10. “We’re going to be filling a significant amount of jobs. These (job fairs) always are successful.”

Miller could not confirm the number of jobs that will be filled, but multiple sources have reported that it could be as many as 800. More

Miller also says that any companies or community organizations interested in becoming sponsors of the job fair should call the Tampa Premium Outlets main office at 909-8716.
