If you’ve somehow missed the last two decades+ of the annual “Arts & Crafts Under the Palms” crafts show & sale presented each year by the Tampa Palms Women’s Club, let’s just say you’ve been missing a lot of amazing crafts, fine art, kitschy household items and so much more.

Presented for 22 years now by the Tampa Palms Women’s Club — including the last two at BJ’s Wholesale Club in the Market Square at Tampa Palms shopping plaza — Arts & Crafts Under the Palms is the New Tampa area’s longest-running annual event. “Palms,” which serves as the Women’s Club’s largest annual fund raiser, was again held the third weekend in October this year and was again blessed with very warm, but still pretty comfortable weather.

“We had about 50 exhibitors who helped us raise about $4,000 in booth fees and sponsorships this year,” says event chair Stella Hardman. The club will give out some of the proceeds from this year’s show to its selected beneficiaries in December.

Many of the crafters are part of the crafts show “circuit” throughout Florida and the southeastern U.S. and some even come from other parts of the country, but this show also brings out locals like the Desrosiers family, where mom Ann was selling her crocheted hats and daughters Jessica and Nicole were hawking photography services & custom-baked cakes and cupcakes, respectively.

“It’s definitely been fun for the three of us,” Ann said. “And we’ve all made some good contacts during the show.” — GN
