Whether you think you’re the next Kelly Clarkson or you just need a good laugh — and don’t want to have to leave the area to do so — here’s three great events you really should attend.

First, at City Grill (5429 Village Market), you can enter “The Real Voice of Wesley Chapel,” a Karaoke Contest, every Thursday in April & May. Two winners will be picked each Thursday to advance to the semifinals, which begin Sunday, June 4.

There’s a lot more details about how the contest works at Facebook.com/City GrillWesleyChapel, but the Grand Prize winner — who won’t be determined until the end of June (yours truly will be one of the Finals judges) — will win a free cruise for two. In addition, this publication and City Grill also will offer multiple prizes every week.

For still more info, stop in at City Grill, visit CityGrill.us, see the ad on page 39 or call 973-9988.

Next, on Saturday, April 18, 9 p.m., Skinny’s Sports Bar (27419-A S.R. 54) will host Wesley Chapel’s only smoker-friendly Comedy Night. I haven’t seen headliner Chuck Glass, featured performer Nina Ramdat or host Jake Barsness perform before, but my good friend, the super-sexy-funny Aniria Wilson, will also appear as a guest performer that evening.

There is no cover to attend Skinny’s Comedy Night, but arrive early, because seating is very limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more info, visit Facebook.com/SkinnysSportsBar, call 994-4646 or see the ad on this page (below).

And finally, on Friday, May, 8, 8 p.m., our good friends at Stage Left Kitchen & Bar (24400 S.R. 54, Lutz, two+ miles west of S.R. 56 & I-75) will host their own smoke-free Comedy Night.

Stage Left is selling admission tickets to the show now and because the place isn’t that big, you should call or stop in to get yours ASAP (although I’ve heard a rumor that a second show possibly could be added if presales go well).

I have seen both the beautiful and hysterical Catherine Maloney and funnyman Joe Riga multiple times and both are outrageous. And, from the clips I’ve seen of Steve Netta, this should be an outstanding night of great food, reasonably priced full-liquor drinks, no smoking and lots of laughs.
