The Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce officially absorbed the now-defunct New Tampa Chamber at mixer at A Dash of Salt & Pepper on Cross Creek Blvd. on February 12.

Now that former New Tampa Chamber of Commerce president Neil Heird has signed the papers (photo, right) which officially folded that organization, the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce (WCCC) is promising to keep up the momentum it has built at a couple of recent events to again provide the kind of vibrant business climate in New Tampa that business owners and residents alike appreciate.

The first event was the “Final Friday” mixer at Glory Days Grill on January 30. At least 100 people — perhaps as many as half of which were New Tampa residents or business owners interested in seeing what the WCCC can bring to the table in terms of supporting local businesses.

“We were thrilled with the turnout and the interest in our Chamber,” said WCCC executive director Hope Allen, who noted that Glory Days Grill will again host a “Final Friday” Happy Hour on Friday, February 27, 4 p.m.

Less than two weeks later (on Feb. 12), we attended the WCCC’s monthly mixer at A Dash of Salt & Pepper on Cross Creek Blvd., which is where Heird officially signed off on folding the New Tampa Chamber. That event also included delicious food from “A Dash” owner Ghada Jadallah, a free wine tasting provided by A Time for Wine and some excellent door prizes.

The WCCC also has hosted ribbon cutting ceremonies for Dimmitt Insurance in Wesley Chapel on Feb. 10, at the new Estancia Club at Estancia at Wiregrass (see page 12), at Soriano Insurance in Wesley Chapel on Feb. 19 and for the dedication of “Hambone Way” in the Angus Valley area of Wesley Chapel and others, although there are no ribbon cuttings planned in March.

We also attended a great non-Chamber mixer and patient appreciation events at Florida Hospital Physicians Group (3000 County Line Rd. in Meadow Pointe), the office of Karina Azank, MD, on January 29 (photo, left). For info, call 907-8430.
