A Wesley Chapel man has died, following an early morning crash on I-275 in Tampa.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), just after 3 a.m. on December 19, Otis D. Bailey, 43, of Wesley Chapel, was traveling north on I-275 north of Fowler Ave. in a 2006 Ford SUV in the center lane, but drifted into the inside lane. Bailey overcorrected and traveled across the traffic lanes to the outside shoulder.
Upon reaching the shoulder of the interstate, FHP reports that Bailey’s vehicle hit the guardrail and became airborne, before landing and rolling down an embankment and striking a traffic sign’s support beam and coming to rest against the outside wall.
Bailey sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. No additional information currently is available.
