A bake sale is a classic way to raise money at school, but an apparent “half-baked” sale really draws some attention, especially from the local authorities, as two Wharton High seniors have learned the hard way.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), on October 10, two 17-year-old Wharton seniors were arrested for being in possession of and attempting to sell marijuana-infused desserts at school. Through an apparent anonymous tip, the two students were caught with the baked goods at around 11:30 a.m.

HCSO says that student was caught with two individually wrapped pot brownies, while the other was in possession of five individually wrapped pot cookies. Both were arrested and charged with possession and attempted delivery of marijuana on school grounds. We have not released their names because of their ages. — MW
