For more than two years, the traffic signal on S.R. 54 at Pointe Pleasant Blvd. has been flashing yellow, but Wesley Chapel drivers can expect to see red and green added into the mix at the end of this month.

Traffic message boards have been posted along S.R. 54 near Hollybrook Shopping Plaza and east of the new light to get drivers ready for the light to become fully operational on June 30, ahead of the new Walmart opening, which currently is scheduled for late July.

Walmart is hiring approximately 300 associates to work at the new location. A temporary hiring center has opened at 28211 Paseo Dr., Suite 190, in the Shops at Wiregrass mall, where applications will be accepted Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. -8 p.m., and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Interested applicants may also apply online at Careers.Walmart.com.

Through Walmart’s Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months.* Interested veterans may find out more at WalmartCareersWithaMission.com.(*Note-Veterans must be within 12 months of active duty and meet Walmart’s standard hiring criteria.)

According to store manager Stephanie White, the new Walmart will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. “I’m excited to meet potential associates who want not only a job, but a great career with Walmart,” said White. The majority of new associates will begin in July to help prepare the store for its upcoming Grand Opening.
