It’s been nearly a year since the new Walmart opened along S.R. 54 in the Wiregrass Ranch Development of Regional Impact (DRI) in Wesley Chapel, and it’s no secret that more development would follow.

Since Walmart opened last August, Chili’s opened its doors out front in February, a new Advanced Auto Parts store has sprouted, along with a new Bank of America branch that’s scheduled to open sometime in July. However, the latest news about that section of Wiregrass Ranch is much bigger.

Pasco County currently is studying a plan that would realign Bruce B. Downs (BBD) Blvd., moving the main intersection of the road with S.R. 54 to just west of the intersection at the entrance of Saddlebrook Resort & Spa. Look for more information about that in our upcoming Wesley Chapel issue (out July 4). That realignment will have a significant effect on development in the area, as can be seen on the above map.

According to the brochure for the recently announced 11,200-sq.-ft. retail center along S.R. 54 (just west of Saddlebrook), the Hollybrook Plaza Publix Supermarket will be moving to a space across Wiregrass Ranch Blvd. from Walmart, although no additional information currently is available about a start date for that project.

West Palm Beach-based developer The Dowd Companies currently is leasing space in the future retail center on S.R. 54, tentatively named “Wiregrass Shops on 54,” with spaces available beginning at 1,200 sq. ft. The same company also currently is leasing retail space next to the planned second phase of the Shops at Wiregrass, tentatively named “Wiregrass Commons on 56.” The group’s website claims that the projected opening date is sometime next summer.

In addition, a new Chase Bank is planned for the Walmart outparcel to the east of Chili’s.

Stay tuned as we continue to follow these developments.
