Led by the husband-and-wife team of Gabriel Vargas and Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) Jessica Rosado, IV Harmony Clinic & Medical Wellness offers preventive and primary care, diagnostics, wellness programs and holistic therapies — all conveniently located under one roof on County Line Rd. (in the new Publix plaza at Livingston Ave.) in Lutz. This inclusive approach to wellness distinguishes IV Harmony Clinic from traditional medical offices that focus primarily on treating illnesses.

Twenty-three years ago, Vargas, the company’s president and CEO, transitioned from what he admits was an unhealthy lifestyle to advocating for a proactive focus on wellness. “I’m living proof prevention is the best way to go.”

Prevention is what became the catalyst for creating a medical clinic dedicated to helping others choose the same type of path.

IV Harmony Clinic’s Medical Director Dr. Victor Feliz.

Rosado, IV Harmony’s chief operating officer, completed her nursing degree at Antillean University in Puerto Rico and earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and FNP-C certification from AGM University in Florida. She also has Gerontology Nursing (Gero-BC) and FMCSA (DOT) certifications. Rosado draws from 16 years of experience in cardiac emergencies and seven years at the Moffitt Cancer Center working with cancer patients. Motivated by the stories of her patients, Rosado pursued her MSN to help her patients shift their focus from trying to cure illnesses to promoting overall health. Registered Nurses José Del Valle and Sara Wallace and Licensed Esthetician Alexys Goff also assist Rosado.

“As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I can care for children to seniors,” Rosado says. “We have treated children from 7 years old — with the consent of their parents — up to 100 years old. We give you the tools your body needs to feel better.”

She adds, “I have spent the last 24 years in a healthcare setting — and the last three years in the role of FNP-C. We started IV Harmony in 2022 as a mobile service and opened our doors to the public in our first (brick & mortar) clinic in May 2023.”

In 2022, IV Harmony’s Medical Director Dr. Victor Feliz, a cardiologist who is a Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (FSCAI) with 22 years of experience, joined the team. Dr. Feliz finished his Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan, NY. He later had a Cardiology fellowship at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, following a Geriatric Medicine fellowship.

Weight-Loss Programs

IV Harmony Clinic employs a comprehensive approach to help you achieve your weight-loss goals. The Clinic’s physician-supervised programs include semaglutide (like the brand names Ozempic or Wegovy), tirzepatide (like the brand Mounjaro), peptides for weight loss, as well as a protocol that combines a low dose of Naltrexone, plus Sermorelin, Lipo-Trim SL, and low-calorie intake to achieve optimum weight-loss results.

IV Harmony Clinic weight-loss patients weigh in each week on the clinic’s InBody 570 Body Composition Analyzer.

Rosado says that lately, “Semaglutide is the most requested weight-loss medication” at IV Harmony Clinic. “And we only use high-quality semaglutide from the best labs. This treatment isn’t for everyone, so we also offer several other medical weight-loss options. But, our patients who qualify for semaglutide treatment do very well with it.”

Rosado will identify your underlying health issues impacting weight loss through a detailed medical evaluation, including history, an examination and potential tests. IV Harmony Clinic weight-loss patients also weigh in each week on the clinic’s high-tech InBody 570 Body Composition Analyzer, which measures not just your weight, but also your body fat, muscle and water levels.

“Our weight-loss programs are personalized plans tailored to each patient’s age, gender, medical conditions, activity level and objectives,” Rosado says, adding that some patients are referred to Registered Dietitians and nutritionists. “The patients who get the best results combine calorie control with increased physical activity, and behavior modification. We provide ongoing monitoring, medication, supplements and, if needed, referrals for psychological support.”

She also explains that, “When I know the patient’s background, I can give them options and guide them. Then, we work together to get each patient to their goal.”

Esthetic Services, Too!

Rosado and Vargas did their due diligence when looking for the right esthetic services for their clients. They chose SkinPen microneedling from Crown Aesthetic for IV Harmony because they knew the safety and research behind the product. SkinPen employs sterile needles to stimulate collagen and elastin production, promoting skin rejuvenation. Patients also can experience revitalization with Botox® and Dysport treatments. The Clinic also offers peptide hormone therapy, which targets muscle restoration and stimulates human growth hormone (HGH) production.

“When you look in the mirror, and you look younger and better, it helps you feel better,” says Vargas.

Rosado adds, “At this time of year, we definitely see a lot more patients looking for Botox® and filler treatments. Everyone wants to look better for the new year.”

PEMF, PRP & More

IV Harmony patients also can explore the benefits of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF), a non-invasive approach that utilizes electromagnetic fields to enhance cellular health and promote healing processes.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy involves drawing a small amount of the patient’s blood, processing it to concentrate the blood’s platelets and injecting this platelet-rich plasma into the body. Rosado says PRP therapies can help patients with everything from injuries and musculoskeletal pain to cosmetic procedures. It also can be used in conjunction with microneedling.

Hydrodermabrasion combines water and exfoliation to effortlessly exfoliate and reveal healthier, more radiant skin texture.

HRT & Low Testosterone

Tailored to each individual’s needs and addressing hormonal imbalances in women, IV Harmony Clinic’s Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) tackles symptoms like fatigue, hot flashes, low libido, memory and sleep issues and mood swings.

And, for men with low testosterone, the clinic’s Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) provides effective solutions. Vargas explains that IV Harmony has many success stories, especially referencing a patient with “Low-T” complaining of all-over body pain.

“For a man, a good number is around 600, and insurance doesn’t want to cover you if you are at 200, which is extremely low. We started treating this patient with testosterone, which increased his levels, and the pain in his body disappeared.”

Available IV Nutritional Therapies

IV Harmony Clinic also offers a wide variety of intravenous (IV) nutritional therapies, which rapidly and efficiently deliver essential vitamins and nutrients to the body through the patient’s veins. These therapies — which provide your choice of a variety of B vitamins, Vitamin C, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and Zinc, are designed to contribute to the patient’s overall health and wellness.

Rosado says IV therapy delivers essential nutrients directly to the system, making it beneficial for deficiencies, immune support and for providing energy boosts. Bypassing the digestive system enhances absorption of these nutrients, aiding individuals with digestive issues. The therapy supports detoxification, boosts immune function, improves athletic performance, aids hangover relief and promotes skin health through nutrient and antioxidant support for collagen production.

Monthly Memberships

IV Harmony Clinic & Medical Wellness offers a convenient membership program for monthly infusions. Members receive discounts on any service at the Clinic and also are allowed to share their IV treatment services with their family members. While IV Harmony does not accept health insurance, it does accept HSA and FSA and patients also can use their Care Credits. IV Harmony also offers a rewards program for referrals.

When not at their clinic, Vargas and Rosado are cycling fans who assemble at church on the weekend. They have a 12-year-old daughter and a pet guinea pig.

IV Harmony Clinic & Medical Wellness is located at 2749 E. County Line Rd. in Lutz. The office is open Mon.- Fri., 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday,. For more information, visit IVHarmonyClinic.com, call (813) 325- 3870.

Excel Music Adds Two Exciting New Programs To Better Serve You!

Excel Music piano & guitar teacher Regnarene Brown (left) will teach the Royal Conservatory of Music program at Excel, which is located in the Cory Lake Professional Center on Cross Creek Blvd. (Photos by Charmaine George)

Located in the Cory Lake Professional Center on Cross Creek Blvd., Excel Music has been teaching children and adults private lessons in voice, piano, guitar, drums, strings, clarinet, recorder, flute, saxophone, and other musical instruments for 17 years.

Serving the communities of Wesley Chapel, New Tampa, Excel Music co-founders John and Sheri Thrasher cannot contain their delight when they talk about two exciting new programs — one that is available immediately and the other beginning next month (January 2024).

Royal Conservatory-trained and certified teacher Regnarene Brown has joined the faculty of 14 music teachers to instruct Royal Conservatory Piano.

“This is a method intended for more serious students,” Regnarene says. “There’s an adjudication process. They prepare and perform pieces for judges before they can move on to the next level. It’s for a student who might be interested in a career or pursuing music at a more serious level.”

John adds, “Typically, we start kids in piano at 5, but an adult can start Royal Conservatory if they want to.”

As excited as he is about the Royal Conservatory, John is equally thrilled about Excel’s other new program.

“We are officially starting a Keyboard Band Piano Jam class in January,” he says. “This class is for 7-10 year olds, typically beginners, but intermediate students would also enjoy it. From Day One, they’re learning pop songs, and each child gets their own part to play. There are four levels. It’s like gamified learning, like a karate class where once they master a level, they move up to the next level.”

The Keyboard Band students will learn the same skills taught in private lessons, but instead, will work with 4-5 other students in a small group setting. They will work on music reading, as well as chords, melodies and improvisation.

“Playing with other people, you feel inspired to try a little harder,” John says. “Even if your part is simple, it’s important. It matters. Quite often, kids worry that playing the piano will be too hard, and that at-home practice will feel more like homework, not something they’ll enjoy. This program is designed to eliminate that concern by establishing some quick wins for the students, so much so that after just a few lessons, each student will have the basic skills needed to play their favorite song. Every three to four months, they will perform at a concert — not a recital, but a concert— and/or they’ll do a professional YouTube music video. I have never been as excited for a class.”

John hopes to schedule the first Keyboard Band concert and video in Apr. 2024.

Post-Pandemic Changes

During the pandemic, Excel Music brought lessons online only, but since reopening to in-person lessons, has continued to offer students the convenience of virtual classes.

“We still have a fairly large number of students participating virtually,” he says. “It’s been a great fit. We’ve had students who have moved out of the state or even the country continue their private lessons with us. Many families return to their native countries during the summertime, and the students can continue their music lessons while away. That’s been a real benefit to kids during the three-month ‘summer slump,’ when many kids tend to slip backward (at school). Learning music is no different, so this has really helped.”

He adds, “Our focus is on education first. Many places that give lessons, particularly on multiple instruments and voice, are often retail facilities that also offer lessons. We’ve turned that model around. We do have some retail, but only in support of the individual lessons. These are accessories that students need to succeed and do well in their music lessons.”

Dreva Pauley (left) will work with kids in Excel Music’s new Keyboard Band Piano Jam program, which begins next month.

With each class or curriculum designed for that particular student, regardless of the student’s skill level or style of music they like, everything can be accommodated in a private lesson, whether in person or online.

At Excel Music, all teachers are either university-trained (many with Master of Music degrees) or have a decade of study and performing experience. The Thrashers take pride in hiring not only the most qualified teachers but also some of the nicest.

“I want people who are there because they love to teach and have a real passion,” ays John. “People who get a thrill when they see the student’s eyes light up with understanding when they cross that threshold, and the look on their face says, ‘Oh, I got it. It’s an incredibly exciting moment — the thrill of sharing a student’s ‘a-ha’ moment.”

Student Sam Z says, “I like that my teacher encourages me to learn more and more music, and he gets me music that I want to learn.”

Upcoming to Excel Music is the ability to text the music school, do online enrollment, and have 24/7 access to information about lessons and answers to questions parents raise.

“Over the years, we’ve improved at providing not only a quality music education but also a fantastic experience for our students,” John says. “We’ve developed many systems that have streamlined and made the way we teach music more effective, as well as how we’ve used technology to improve our service and continue to use newer technologies.”

When not running their music school, John and Sheri, who live in Wesley Chapel, are lovers of the performing arts, traveling and pampering their two pet cats.

Excel Music is located at 10353 Cross Creek Blvd., Suite I. It is open Mon.- Thur., 2 p.m.-9 p.m., 2 p.m.-7 p.m. on Fri., and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sat. It is closed on Sunday. For more info, call (813) 991-1177, or visit newtampamusicschool.com

Family-Owned Prime Barbershops To Add A Third Location In 2024!

Men, children and even women receive outstanding cuts from licensed barbers at both Prime Barbershop locations. (Photo by Charmaine George)

Three years ago in The Grove Shopping Center in Wesley Chapel, Prime Barbershop was born. It was intended by its co-owner and Wesley Chapel resident Edward Velasquez as a meaningful place for family and business to intertwine seamlessly. Ed wanted to create a place where men could enjoy a cut and a shave, and moms could feel safe bringing their sons or even their daughters for their haircuts. His goal was to build long-term relationships.

Ed explains that he aimed to create something different when he started thinking about building a new business for his family.

“We didn’t want to be just another barbershop opening up in the area,” he says. “We wanted a location that stood out, that when people walked in, they’d say, ‘This is really cool-looking.’ We wanted to elevate the barber shop game. We created an atmosphere that’s really inviting. We don’t tolerate loud music or foul language. We hold our barbers to a really high standard. From day one, we were going to turn the industry on its edge and say we can have an upscale barber shop in the area and cater to those clients who want a different experience.”

This vision for excellence has since expanded to a second Prime Barbershop location at the Publix-anchored Livingston Marketplace on County Line Rd. (at Livingston Ave.) in Lutz. A third location will open in the new Downtown Avalon Park Wesley Chapel on S.R. 54 in early 2024.

How It All Got Started

The journey began when Ed observed Omar diligently working as a barber for someone else. Recognizing the talent and passion within the family, an idea took root — why not establish a barber shop where his son-in-law could showcase his skills and become a partner in the venture?

(Right, l.-r.) Ed & Melinda Velasquez, Kristi & Omar Lugo.

Omar says he fell in love with barbering at a young age and started experimenting by cutting his friends’ hair in high school. After graduation, he attended technical school, received his barber’s license, and has now been a professional barber for seven years.

“I just knew it was something I wanted to do,” Omar says.

Ed explains, “I knew Omar was cutting for another barbershop. It’s always challenging working for another business. You don’t know what the expectations are. I wanted him and my daughter (Kristi) to feel secure and have a place they can call their own without being part of someone else’s dream — and create our own.”

Prime Barbershop offers haircuts, beard trims, shape-ups, hot towel shaves, head shaves and eyebrow trims, with discounts offered on haircuts and beard trims for seniors over 65. These barber shops are not the “boys club” shops of the past. Rather, they welcome everyone: men, children, as well as women seeking short haircuts, which Kristi often provides.

“We love that moms feel comfortable bringing their children to the shop,” Ed says. “That speaks volumes to us because there are many places they don’t want to go or had bad experiences.”

In the very beginning, the Prime Barbershop owners sat down with Mark Gold, the owner/developer of The Grove and learned about Mark’s innovative vision to not only reinvigorate a failing shopping complex but also to add a new concept now called KRATE Container Park at The Grove, which repurposed former shipping containers into a variety of locally-owned small businesses and restaurants.

“It was a different concept I had never heard of, but I knew he was wholeheartedly invested in the place,” ED says. “We saw him come and start cleaning up, painting and landscaping.”

And, even though Ed and Omar didn’t open their Prime Barbershop in the KRATEs, he definitely has benefited from the success of the adjacent container park.

“I was sold on the location and the growth of the area; it was kind of a no-brainer that we had to jump in and get a spot here before someone else did.”

Fast forward three years, and the impact of this decision is evident in the bustling success of the original Prime Barbershop. With its warm ambiance, skilled barbers and commitment to providing superior service, the shop quickly gained a loyal clientele. The Wesley Chapel community embraced the concept of a family-centric barber shop, where personalized attention and a sense of belonging are as much a part of the experience as the perfect haircut.

Ed says, “First and foremost, we really want to thank all of our loyal clientele, which has helped us grow since opening our doors in 2020. We’re now celebrating our third anniversary at our location in The Grove. We’re really thankful to the clients and for building the shop to where it is today and for their continued patronage, as well as to all the barbers who have helped make it happen.”

The glowing Yelp and Google reviews prove that Prime Barbershop’s clientele is so loyal because the service and the staff are top-notch.

Client Brandon Scruton’s glowing 5-star review on Google says, “Steven is a fantastic barber! I have been going to him for over a year now and have never had any issues. He also lines up my beard perfectly. I have started bringing in my one-and-a-half-year-old in for a cut and he is amazing with kids! He takes his time to make my kid feel comfortable and always talks to him throughout the process. If you are looking for a great barber, definitely go to Steven!”

Every Prime Barbershop barber has received similar reviews, so you really can’t go wrong!

Keeping Up With Industry Trends

Prime Barbershop’s licensed barbers create new content and regularly follow social media to keep up with the latest trends.

“We’re seeing that the trends make a loop and come back around,” Omar says. “We’re seeing a lot of kids coming in for a mullet or comb-over. Social media is what keeps us in the loop.”

Ed adds that the biggest trend since the pandemic is the return of beards.

“It’s no longer just getting a haircut, but beard trims,” he says. “Keeping your beard good and healthy. Beard care is probably the biggest trend in the last three years.”

Thanks to the success of the Wesley Chapel location, Ed made sure that the new Prime Barbershop copied the flagship location, integrating the same ethos of a modern barber shop with old-fashioned charm, making sure that each customer feels more like family than just a client.

Ed says he chose the Publix shopping center location because the owner of the plaza did not want a typical salon franchise.

“They saw what we were doing at The Grove and the upscale type of barbershop that we are,” Ed explains.

Looking ahead to 2024, anticipation is building for the grand opening of the third establishment in Avalon Park. With the lessons learned from the first two locations, Ed and Omar envision a space that caters to the community’s grooming needs and becomes a focal point for connection and camaraderie.

“We’ve been interested in Avalon Park since they first started talking about it in 2020,” Ed says. “We’re hoping to be in there by maybe February 2024. ‘Live, Work, Play’ is the theme of Avalon Park’s downtown in Orlando. We knew that if they created the same ‘feel’ in Wesley Chapel, that it would be very successful and a hub where people will come to do all of that.”

As the Wesley Chapel shop’s three-year milestone is celebrated, it’s not just a celebration of a successful business venture but a testament to the power of family bonds and entrepreneurial spirit. The journey from a single barber shop in Wesley Chapel to a triad of establishments in three different areas exemplifies Ed and Omar’s commitment to quality, service, and the enduring strength that comes from blending together family and business.

“We’re always looking to hire the best of the best,” Ed says. “We’ve created a culture that allows a very successful barber to come in and continue his process or for someone without as much experience to build up a good clientele as long as they are willing to put in the work and do what needs to be done.”

In a world often dominated by impersonal experiences, the Prime Barbershops stand out as beacons of community, illustrating that a haircut can be more than just a trim — it can be an opportunity to forge connections, build relationships and create an enduring legacy.

Ed says, “In any of our shops, you will be greeted the same. Everyone will be in uniform. The atmosphere is the same. Our shops have a vintage look to them. They are warm and inviting. We’ve created a culture that no matter which location you go to, it’s going to feel like it’s home.”

When not busy running their shops, you will find the owners enjoying their downtime with their families: in Wesley Chapel, Ed and Melinda, his wife of 32 years, their two children and three grandchildren, and Omar in Dade City with his wife Kristi, and their two children.

The original Prime Barbershop is located at 6027 Wesley Grove Blvd., Unit 206. The Lutz location is at 2747 E. County Line Rd. For more info, visit PrimeBarbersWC.com

Trust Florida Advanced Spine & Orthopedics For Spine & Orthopedic Care

Dr. Jonas Santos, with some of the technologically advanced equipment at Florida Advanced Spine & Orthopedics’ Wesley Chapel office.
(Photos by Charmaine George)

Florida Advanced Spine and Orthopedics (FASTMD) is a leading orthopedic practice with five locations throughout Tampa Bay. The Wesley Chapel office, located in the Cypress Ridge Professional Park on the north side of S.R. 56, is led by orthopedists Jonas Santos, D.O., and Andrew Corbett, D.O.

FASTMD’s comprehensive spine and general orthopedic services include minimally invasive spine surgery, injections, sports medicine and general orthopedics of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, neck, knee and ankle. The doctors can help patients suffering from back pain, arthritis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, herniated discs and dislocations/subluxations, among many other concerns. This breadth of offerings positions the practice as a one-stop solution for all of your musculoskeletal issues.

Dr. Santos is a Board-certified and fellowship-trained Interventional Pain Physician specializing in minimally invasive procedures and interventional injections. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton. He continued his medical training at the University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine, where he completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, including rotations at Tampa General Hospital and the Moffitt Cancer Center. He served as Chief Resident during his residency. Following his residency, Dr. Santos pursued a Fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at USF, where he gained expertise in interventional procedures for pain relief.

These days, Dr. Santos also teaches residents and fellows at the USF Health Residency and Fellowship Programs, where he stays up-to-date with current research and effective treatments for the spine and orthopedics.

“I wanted to specialize in the field of spine and orthopedics because I feel that when it comes to surgical options, patients are understandably apprehensive about having to undergo surgery.”

He adds that he aims to emphasize that many conservative treatments and minimally invasive options are available before just going straight to surgery.

“This misconception is something that I really wanted to educate our community about,” he says. “We promote trying to treat patients conservatively.”

While he acknowledges that some situations do require surgical interventions, he is cognizant of putting patients at ease when entering a surgical practice office. The doctors work collaboratively with patients to develop treatment plans tailored to their specific situations to avoid surgery anytime it is not essential.

Dr. Santos offers injections that can help with pain in a patient’s spine, neck, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and hand. For issues with feet and ankles, however, he refers patients to a podiatrist.

He stresses that early intervention is imperative, as the longer the damaged nerves and discs exist, the greater the likelihood that chronic pain will increase.

“Some of the most gratifying aspects of what I do is seeing the relief on a patient’s face when we tell them there are other minimally invasive options — like injection therapies — that can help a lot of back and nerve-related pain,” he says. “After we are able to proceed with those interventions — and some patients feel almost instantaneous relief that they’ve been suffering with for usually several months — it is quite rewarding.”

Dr. Andrew Corbett goes over a patient’s chart with the patient.

Dr. Andrew Corbett, a recent addition to the FASTMD practice, also earned his D.O. degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton. He completed his Adult Deformity and Spinal Reconstruction Surgery Fellowship at the Sonoran Spine Center in Tempe, AZ, following his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the USF Morsani College of Medicine.

Dr. Corbett says he was inspired to follow the path into orthopedics due to a personal experience with a sports injury he sustained in high school and college.

When surgical intervention for a patient’s spine is required, Dr. Corbett utilizes a MEND (Minimally-Invasive Endoscopic Discectomy) procedure, which is done by utilizing small cameras similar to laparoscopic surgery, allowing the removal of painful disc material, clearing out bone spurs and arthritis through a small camera less than an eighth of an inch wide. This process enables Dr. Corbett to access the painful area of the patient’s spine without damaging the surrounding tissues.

“The recovery is much quicker and, in most cases, less painful,” Dr. Corbett says, “and allows you to get to your rehabilitation and physical therapy much quicker than the larger incisions used in traditional surgeries. While certain indications do still require larger surgery, we try to offer the minimally-invasive offer whenever it is appropriate.”

Like Dr. Santos, Dr. Corbett finds that the most rewarding aspect of the practice is being able to alleviate a patient’s pain after surgery and “watching them return to an active lifestyle.”

Speaking Of Lifestyle…

Both doctors stress the significance of maintaining a healthy diet, regular physical activity and paying attention to cardiovascular health and core strength to all of their patients. They believe in stretching, proper weightlifting techniques, ergonomic practices, and postural awareness to prevent joint issues.

“Maintaining a healthy diet is number one to keep the pressure off your spine,” Dr. Corbett says. “Maintaining physical activity, at least 30 minutes a day, and paying attention to cardiovascular health, as well as core strength (also are important).”

Dr. Santos agrees and adds that proper diet and exercise allow your body to “essentially use all of the muscles, ligaments and joints harmoniously, so none of those systems is taking on the load and undergoing degeneration.”

The doctors share an unwavering commitment to providing patients with the best possible care. At the practice’s Trinity location, FASTMD has a very rare FDA-approved Stem Cell Lab where the doctors can harvest stem cells from patients and store them for the patient’s possible future needs.

“This way, if they need surgery in the future, we can use those stem cells to help the healing process,” Dr. Santos says. “(Stem cells) can be used for a herniated disc once removed and the fusion of certain joints that need to be fused using the patient’s stem cells. We also can harvest them to treat rotator cuff injuries, arthritis and tendonitis of other joints in the body, as well.”

In mid-November, a Board-certified general orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Ryan Ouillette, will join the practice. He attended Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital. Dr. Ouillette furthered his specialization with a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan.

Dr. Ouillette will perform all extensive and minor orthopedic surgeries, excluding spinal procedures, which will expand the practice’s capabilities for a broader full-service range of surgical options. This exciting addition further underscores FASTMD’s commitment to offering the Wesley Chapel community comprehensive orthopedic care.

Outside the practice, Dr. Santos enjoys basketball, football, and fishing. He is the proud father of an eight-year-old son and resides in Wesley Chapel with his wife and two Pomeranians, Becky and Gg. Dr. Corbett, who has been happily married for a year and a half, is excitedly anticipating the arrival of his first child, a baby girl. He enjoys spending quality time at the pool with family and friends and loves playtime with his three-year-old mini Goldendoodle, Leo. Both doctors also share a love of fishing.

As FASTMD continues to grow and evolve, patients can rest assured that their musculoskeletal health needs will be met with the highest standard of care and expertise, whether through non-surgical, minimally invasive interventions or surgical solutions when necessary. The practice’s dedication to each patient’s well-being remains unwavering, and it is poised to continue making a significant impact in orthopedics for years to come.

Florida Advanced Spine & Orthopedics’ Wesley Chapel office is located at 2309 Crestover Lane and is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For appointments and more information, call 855-3FASTMD, visit FASTMD.com.

Boutique Med Spa Offers An Inside-Out Approach To Beauty & Wellness

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner Tracy Burke’s Inside Out Aesthetics & Wellness, in an outparcel building in front of The Shops at Wiregrass, offers aesthetic treatments, hormone replacement therapies & medical weight loss. (Photos by Charmaine George)

In today’s fast-paced world, where wellness is more crucial than ever, Tracy Burke’s Inside Out Aesthetics & Wellness redefines aesthetics by emphasizing the intricate connection between how we feel on the inside and how we look on the outside.

Tracy is a nationally Board-certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and is Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C).

Tracy has more than two decades of experience in the medical profession and fused her extensive medical knowledge, artistic skills and genuine caring nature when she opened her own boutique med spa in an outparcel building at the Shops at Wiregrass in May of this year. She is passionate about educating her patients and helping them look and feel their best.

As a resident of Wesley Chapel for thirteen years, Tracy knew she wanted to open her new med spa in her home community.

“It’s wonderful,” she says. “Wesley Chapel is a small community and the people here are wonderful. I wanted to build clientele and develop relationships with patients right here in my own neighborhood. I’ve traveled for work my whole life, always on the interstate, so it’s an amazing feeling now to drive 1.2 miles to my office and get there in 5 minutes.”

Upon completing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in Family Medicine from the University of South Florida, Tracy undertook multiple training programs to attain her certifications as an Aesthetic Injector. With rigorous training and several years dedicated to the practice of administering neurotoxins, dermal fillers, utilizing lasers and providing RF microneedling, plasma-rich platelet (or PRP) and hormone therapies, skincare and all facets of the medical spa industry, she has developed a deep understanding of the treatments and therapies that are most and least effective within this still-evolving field.

“I chose the name Inside Out Aesthetics & Wellness because my mission is to help people feel good on the inside and look good on the outside,” Tracy says. “It’s not just about aesthetics and beauty; it’s also about what goes on inside our bodies, including wellness and hormonal balance.”

One of the med spa’s key strengths is its vast array of services. From traditional beauty treatments like Botox and skin rejuvenation to wellness therapies, Inside Out is a one-stop destination for anyone looking to enhance their physical appearance and overall health.

But, what truly sets this med spa apart is that, unlike many other med spas, Tracy is both the owner and the practitioner. She says that it’s nice for patients to be able to see the same provider every time they visit.

As an APRN, Tracy is uniquely positioned to provide weight loss, hormone treatments and administer neuromodulators, injectable fillers, biosimulators and PDO (polydioxanone) thread lifts safely and effectively. Each of these treatments, which are described in more detail below, are tailored to each individual’s unique needs, ensuring that Tracy’s patients always receive personalized care.

Aesthetic Treatments

Dysport, Botox and Jeuveau are FDA-approved neuromodulators that temporarily interrupt the signals between the nerves and muscles responsible for wrinkle formation. Neuromodulators address forehead wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet, neck bands and specific regions around the lips and mouth.

“Neuromodulators stop muscle contractions which will prevent wrinkles from forming caused by facial expressions. Tracy says injectable fillers at Inside Out Aesthetics & Wellness include popular options such as Restylane, Versa and Radiesse, which serve to gently soften fine lines and wrinkles, boost lip fullness, provide volume to areas where it has diminished and refine the contours of the cheekbones and jawline.

Tracy explains that biosimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse, “will stimulate the body to build natural collagen and replace lost volume or add volume to areas in which you may have a deficit.”

PDO thread lifts are procedures that use FDA-cleared polydioxanone threads, which are biodegradable polyester sutures. They can be placed beneath the skin to provide elevation, particularly around the eyebrows and cheeks. These threads also are effective in softening nasolabial folds (aka “smile” or “laugh lines”) and marionette lines, refining the jawline, enhancing lip volume, smoothing lip lines and stimulating collagen production for a rejuvenated appearance.

“These dissolvable threads are used to lift and tighten skin, and they dissolve in four to six months and continue to work for up to a year,” Tracy says.

Medical Treatments

In addition to her many aesthetic services, Inside Out Aesthetics & Wellness provides weight loss and bioidentical hormone replacement therapies for both men and women. As a patient of hormone therapy herself, Tracy says she has never experienced a hot flash or any of the other systems caused by hormonal imbalance.

“Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy uses a pellet inserted under the skin into the subcutaneous fat pad,” Tracy says. “The pellets are plant-based, so they are more natural than the ones made from animal hormones. They mimick our body’s own DNA, so our body recognizes it as our own hormones

“We offer bioidentical hormone therapy for men and women,” Tracy says. “These therapies replace the hormones we’ve lost as we age or for when we suffer with a hormone deficiency.”

She adds that these therapies also aid in heart, bone, brain and breast health.

Bioidentical hormones also help with menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes, mood swings, low libido, fatigue, brain fog and weight gain.

Tracy says that Inside Out also leads the way in innovative weight loss treatments. Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are prescription injectable medications that are FDA-approved for weight loss. They are designed to target appetite centers in the brain and gut. These medications essentially regulate the patient’s blood glucose levels and slow down digestion. Adults meeting specific weight and body mass index (BMI) criteria may qualify for these treatments to aid them in their weight loss efforts.

Tracy’s vision extends far beyond the confines of her med spa. She strongly emphasizes the role of nutrition and lifestyle in achieving optimal well-being. Clients are encouraged and helped to make healthier dietary choices and exercise regularly during their beauty and wellness journey. She believes that beauty results from good health, and she says that a balanced lifestyle is an integral part of this equation.

Collaborating physician Angel Pagan, M.D., oversees the practice, and Inside Out Aesthetics & Wellness prides itself on staying at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies and research in aesthetics and wellness. Tracy is committed to ongoing education, ensuring that the med spa always provides clients with the latest and most effective treatments.

“There are so many changes, advancements, new products and innovative ways to do things that you (constantly) have to inundate yourself with continuing education,” she says. “It’s a lot to keep up with — not only my license as a nurse practitioner, but for the aesthetic side, too. I probably spend 200 hours a year or more in training and continuing education.”

Tracy takes a genuinely patient-centered approach. Clients are encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in developing their personalized treatment plans. She says that this open dialogue ensures that each client’s unique goals and expectations are met and exceeded.

Tracy relays her favorite story of a satisfied client’s comments following a treatment: “She just turned around and said, ‘I love you, Tracy.’ She hugged me, and she was just the sweetest, nicest lady. And I was like, ‘I love you, too.’ It makes it all worth it when I help somebody feel good, and they genuinely feel like I care about them, and that they care about me, too.”

She adds, “I (always wanted) to do what I love, so I would love what I do. Aesthetics is my first passion, and I enjoy helping people look and feel their best, so it all ties together: weight loss, hormone replacement therapy and aesthetics. People want to feel good both inside and out.”

When not busy at her med spa, you can find “T Burke,” a wife and mom of six awesome adult children, advocating for foster children as a Guardian ad Litem in Hillsborough County, working out at the Wesley Chapel F45 gym, hiking in the mountains with her husband Robert, or chilling at home with the couple’s fur baby, a pup named Jasper.
