Wesley Chapel will be featured in the largest regional lifestyle publication in the U.S., the glossy home magazine Southern Living, when Javic Homes completes a new house in the Brookside community, located next to Saddlebrook Resort off S.R. 54.

Part of the Southern Living Custom Builder program — a group of more than 100 of the top custom home builders in the southern U.S. brought together by Southern Living magazine — Tampa-based Javic Homes broke ground on the “2015 Southern Living Showcase Home” in Brookside on July 29. The home is scheduled to be completed next spring.

“Showcase Homes” are custom- built, open to the public and showcase the latest products, design trends and decorating ideas featured in the publication, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016.

Javic Homes owner and president Jon Solomon says that the Brookside home will be the second “Showcase Home” the builder has constructed, having also been selected to construct a similar project last year in the Beach Park neighborhood of South Tampa.

“I think we were chosen again because of the quality of our work and how pleased customers were with the last house and its success,” Solomon says, adding that last year’s home sold within one week of going on the market. He adds that he doesn’t think that the new home will last long, either.

“Brookside always has been sort of a hidden gem in Wesley Chapel,” Solomon says. “I think the community is a great fit (for us).”

Solomon also explains that many of the homes inside Brookside already are custom-built, Southern Living-inspired homes, which makes it a perfect locale for this year’s “Showcase Home.”

The 4,000-sq.-ft., “traditional-style,” high-end luxury home should be completed by the spring of 2015. Solomon says that the home will feature innovative and beautiful products seen in Southern Living, with a focus on durability and comfort. Solomon estimates that the home could end up selling for more than $800,000.

Once completed, the public will be welcome to tour the house for a small admission fee. The proceeds from those admissions will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children-Tampa® and Operation Finally Home, a non-profit group that builds homes for severely injured combat veterans of the U.S. armed forces. According to Solomon, Javic was able to raise and split more than $20,000 for the same charities last year.

“I think that the community is going to really enjoy (the home),” Solomon says. “The events are lots of fun for people to attend. We’ll have kids’ activities and live music.”

The home will be open to the public for five or six weeks on weekends, although dates and times have not yet been set. During the week, private functions will be held.
