Visit Colorful Nails For Nail Art, Gel-X Manicures, Eyelash Extensions & More!

If you’re in the market for a new nail salon, be sure to check out Colorful Nails, located in the Freedom Plaza on S.R. 54. Open since February of this year, after taking over for a previous nail salon (KS Nails), Colorful Nails is a completely rebranded nail salon with comfortable seating, elegant decor and new staff.

The salon offers acrylic, gel, Gel-X and dip powder nails, manicures, pedicures, nail art and designs, waxing (including eyebrow, lips, Brazilian and legs) and eyelash volume and extension treatments.

Colorful Nails is the vision of husband-wife owners Chris and Giau (she goes by Lee) Alley. Before she worked on nails, Lee, a native of Vietnam, worked for Carnival Cruise Line for eight years and in fact, it was on a cruise ship where she first met Chris.

“Four years ago, when Chris and I met, he asked me to take a chance,” shares Lee. “Come back to the US with me and let’s build a good, beautiful life together.”

Lee left the cruise business to be with Chris and they moved to Wesley Chapel, where they are building that life together with their 15-month-old son Conner.

In a new country — and on land full-time — Lee was ready to learn a new business. She befriended a fellow Vietnamese neighbor, who introduced her to the nail business and helped her get started with an introductory nail class. She then worked for a few different salons in the area to gain experience.

Now, even as an owner and lead technician of her own nail salon, Lee is still passionate about learning all she can about her craft. She has taken eyelash extension and nail design classes and loves to watch online videos to keep up with the latest in nail art.

“Lee is always trying to learn new things,” Chris says. “She spends about an hour a day watching YouTube tutorials on nail designs and techniques.”

Chris, who has experience in the restaurant business and in information technology (IT), assists Lee with the “back end” of the business, such as managing the software used at the salon, Colorful Nails’ website and the salon’s finances. But, he says Lee is really the face of Colorful Nails.

“Lee is modest, but I can say that she treats every customer like a family member,” says Chris. “Her background of working on cruises helps her emphasize excellent customer service, using high-quality products and delivering a satisfying experience for everyone.”

Of course, Lee can’t do it alone. She has eight wonderful staff members who have a mix of Vietnamese and Hispanic backgrounds, so you can hear English, Spanish and Vietnamese all spoken at Colorful Nails.

“If a customer or nail technician is more comfortable speaking in Spanish or Vietnamese, we all help each other out to make sure that the communication is clear,” Lee says.

The Latest In Gel Nails

While manicures, pedicures and nail designs are always popular at Colorful Nails, one option that is gaining attention with the salon customers is Gel-X.

Chris says that Gel-X is an alternative to acrylic nail extensions. Instead of using glue, a special extension gel is used to apply fake gel-based nails of your desired shape and length to your natural nails. Since the fake nails are made of gel, they are thinner and more flexible than acrylic nails and the removal process is gentler on your natural nails.

“I like to tell my customers about Gel-X because not all of them know about it,” Lee says. “Those who try it have given me good feedback about how nice it feels and that it lasts for 3-4 weeks.”

“(I) absolutely love Lee and Colorful Nails!,” shares Rose Connell, a regular at the salon. “It’s a beautiful place and the people are all so kind. And, of course, they do quality work, I’ve always been satisfied with my nails. I used to drive to there from Ocala because Lee is so amazing. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

Meanwhile, Loretta Hernandez, another Colorful Nails customer, says, “Jasmin and Caridad are both awesome and the owner, Lee, is very sweet and concerns herself with her clients’ happiness. It’s not about rushing to get to the next client as fast as possible. They give you the attention you deserve. The more I go, the more I enjoy the place. Everyone is friendly, and wonderful.”

The holiday season is a perfect time to visit Colorful Nails. Get a mani, pedi and some beautiful holiday nail designs — then buy gift cards to give to friends and family as gifts/stocking stuffers. The salon is currently offering a promotion on gift cards — buy a $100 gift card for only $90. Also, you will receive 10% off the regular price on services if you visit Colorful Nails anytime on Monday-Wednesday, as well as on your birthday.

Colorful Nails is located at 30036 S.R. 54. The salon is open Mon.-Fri., 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m., 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sat, and 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Sun. For appointments or more information, call (813) 501-4297, visit ColorfulNailsSalon.com.

Touch Nail Spas Invite You To Come Pamper Yourself

As the husband-and-wife team of Timmy Pham and Tiffany Ha celebrate the sixth anniversary of the original Wesley Chapel location of their Touch Nail Spa, they have continued to grow by opening new salons, expanding their services, and remaining committed to providing the best possible customer service to keep their clients raving.

Touch Nail Spa’s Wesley Chapel location is 5,000 sq. ft. — the largest nail salon in the area — and conveniently located on S.R. 56, about a mile east of I-75, in the same plaza as Capital Tacos. That location alone employs 44 people.

In December 2020, the second Touch Nail Spa opened in The Village at Hunter’s Lake, in the same plaza with Sprouts Farmers Market off Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in New Tampa. It’s a convenient location with abundant parking and now has more than 30 employees.

“When we opened our first location, we had 10 people working,” Timmy says. “We’ve grown so much.”

And now, Touch Nail Spa has expanded again — as a third location has opened in Odessa at 16222 S.R. 54.

But, Timmy and Tiffany say it’s not important that they are the biggest salon in the area. What they really strive for is to be the best.

“We try to give the best customer service we can,” says Timmy. “There are so many nail salons, and they learn from us and copycat what we’re doing.”

Touch Nail Spa offers beautiful, upscale, serene surroundings with high ceilings for better ventilation, rows of comfortable leather pedicure chairs and plenty of manicure stations to minimize the wait time.

A complimentary beverage is offered with any service, including manicures, pedicures, eyelash extensions, waxing, facials and massages. Complimentary beverages include bottled water, soda, or a glass of chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, moscato or sangria, served in a chilled glass (wine is for adults ages 21 and older with proper identification, of course).

Want To Try Something New?

As for new services, the Wesley Chapel location now offers microblading, a semi-permanent treatment to fill in eyebrows, and Timmy is hoping to expand that service to the New Tampa location, as well.

In addition, all three Touch locations now offer eyelash extensions with many options to fit a variety of budgets.

Whether you’re looking for a simple mani/pedi to keep your fingers and toes neat and polished, a relaxing spa experience with luxurious touches, or a skilled technician to provide the latest trends in nail shapes and designs, Touch Nail Spa can accommodate every desire.

Touch offers dipping powder, acrylic nails and all kinds of nail designs,  French manicures, gel polish (which lasts longer than regular polish) and more.

Timmy says each location has always had thousands of colors on hand, but has recently added many more, so the salon is now carrying even more colors than it had prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. He estimates Touch now boasts 3,500+ colors.

But, like so many other business owners have experienced, the pandemic left its mark on Touch Nail Spa.

“We’re so glad Covid is gone,” Timmy says. “The pandemic destroyed a lot.”

While some people still wear masks, restrictions have eased. However, the stringent cleaning protocols that were in place prior to the pandemic are still being utilized at Touch, to ensure the health and safety of clients and employees.

“It seems like people are back to normal,” he explains. “They don’t mind sitting closer now.”

Also back are private nail parties. While all three locations will accommodate groups, only Wesley Chapel can provide a private room for the exclusive use of your gathering, whether it’s for bachelorette parties, birthday parties or bridal/wedding parties. Although they didn’t require a private room, Jannah and her daughters Kristen and Lauren, daughter-in-law Caitlin and Kristen’s boyfriend Chaz each enjoyed a different manicure — from Orange Burst to Strawberries & Cream to basic — and everyone raved about their service, relaxing foot massages and nail techs.

Timmy says long-time customers have noticed that the salon had no choice but to change its prices after the pandemic. Just as costs have risen for consumers, he says they have risen slightly for Touch Nail Spa, too. He says supplies cost twice what they did prior to the pandemic.

“It gives me a headache,” he says. “I want to be fair with all of the customers and with the technicians, but everything has changed.”

Touch Nail Spa does offer a rewards program for its regular clients. Be sure to ask about it when you visit any of the salons. Customers sign in with their phone number on one of the spa’s iPads and receive one point for every dollar spent. Points can be redeemed for a discounted pedicure, according to current terms.

Discounted prices also are available for children ages 11 and younger.

Timmy says while he works to keep prices affordable, what he wants most is to please his customers. He promises that at Touch Nail Spa, you will always be serviced by an experienced technician whose goal is to make the customer happy.

“What does the community want us to provide for them?,” he asks. “Come in and tell us what you need.”

Touch Nail Spa offers an electronic gift certificate for all occasions — including Mother’s Day — that can be used at any of its locations. E-gifts are available for purchase at TouchNailAndSpa.com.

The Wesley Chapel (27233 S.R. 56) and New Tampa (8630 Hunter’s Village Rd.) Touch Nail Spas are both open Mon.-Sat., 9:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m., and 11 a.m.–5 p.m. on Sun. To make an appointment with a specific nail technician or for more information about the Wesley Chapel location, call (813) 973-4111. For the New Tampa location, call (813) 536-1003.

Touch Nail Spa Celebrates Its 5-Year Anniversary In Wesley Chapel!

Treat yourself to a royal experience in Touch Nail Spa’s queen-like thrones and wide variety of services provided by a friendly staff at either the Hunter’s Lake location on Bruce B. Downs Blvd. or in Wesley Chapel on S.R. 56. (Photos: Charmaine George)

Tomorrow, Touch Nail Spa on S.R. 56 in Wesley Chapel will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a special event. The first 50 people at the Wesley Chapel location (not available at the New Tampa spa) when it opens at 11 a.m. will receive a free “Simple Touch” pedicure (a $27 value). Simple Touch is the spa’s basic pedicure that includes nail trimming, shaping and buffing, cuticle grooming, callus treatment, pineapple sugar scrub, hot towel wrap, lotion massage and polish with one of Touch Nail Spa’s 1,700 colors.

The husband-and-wife team of Timmy Pham and Tiffany Ha opened Wesley Chapel’s Touch Nail Spa in 2017. At that time, the Wesley Chapel location was 3,200 square feet, but the spacious, clean salon with great customer service soon saw a need to expand. Now, at 5,000 sq. ft., it is the largest nail salon in Wesley Chapel.

Timmy and Tiffany expanded their business again in December 2020 by opening the second Touch Nail Spa location in The Village at Hunter’s Lake, near Sprouts Farmers Market off Bruce B. Downs Blvd.

The pair is excited that later this spring, they will be launching yet another new location in the Odessa/Trinity area. That Touch Nail Spa is expected to open in mid-April.

The two current Touch Nail Spa salons both offer high ceilings for better ventilation, rows of comfortable leather pedicure chairs, plenty of manicure stations and a complimentary beverage with any manicure, pedicure or other services, including eyelash extensions, waxing, facials and massage. Complimentary beverages include bottled water, soda, or a glass of chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, moscato or sangria, served in a chilled glass (wine is for adults age 21 and older with proper identification, of course).

While Timmy tells us social distancing is no longer required, the staff will gladly accommodate anyone who asks to be seated more than six feet away from others. For manicures, plexiglass partitions separate the technicians from their customers, with enough room on the bottom to slide your hands through.

“We want people to be comfortable,” Timmy says, explaining that while CDC guidelines have relaxed and many customers are no longer seeking social distancing, the salon still follows strict health and safety procedures to be sure all areas are always clean and disinfected. While this cleanliness has always been part of the Touch Nail Spa experience, it has been especially emphasized during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The most important thing people are looking for right now is that everything is clean and sanitized,” Timmy says.

The salon’s cleanliness and bright atmosphere is one of the reasons it has been so popular since it opened five years ago.

In addition to the Simple Touch Pedicure, Touch Nail Spa offers other services with an even more spa-like experience, including a variety of “Hot Touch” and “Organic Touch” pedicures, ranging from $47 to $62. These include a hot stone massage for your legs and feet, plus your additional treatments, such as specialized exfoliation for the bottom of your feet and a mask for your legs and heels. Timmy says the Orange Burst and Milk & Honey pedicures are among the services most requested by customers because of the excellent results they provide in leaving feet feeling soft and smooth.

Whether you prefer a simple mani/pedi to keep your fingers and toes neat and polished, or are looking for the perfect technician to provide the latest trend in nail shapes and designs, the experts at Touch Nail Spa can help.

At both locations, Touch Nail Spa offers dipping power, acrylic nails and all kinds of nail designs. French manicures and gel polish (which lasts longer than regular polish) are available.  The color choices are seemingly limitless. Touch Nail Spa carries roughly 1,700 colors, available in both regular polish and gel. For those who prefer dipping powders, which add a layer to your nails that is as strong as acrylic but healthier for your nails, there are 2,000 choices.

While Timmy says the pandemic has been difficult for the entire industry and has increased his costs, the prices at Touch Nail Spa have remained the same.

“We also haven’t cut the quality because of the economy,” Timmy says. “Everything is more expensive now and a lot of salons have had to increase their prices, but we haven’t done that. We have kept the prices the same, but also kept the quality of our products the same or better.”

Touch Nail Spa’s Customer Rewards Program helps keep the services even more affordable. Upon arrival at either salon, customers sign in on one of Touch Nail Spa’s iPads. There, you register for your free membership and start earning points. Members receive 1 point for every dollar spent. When you reach 500 points, you receive $25 off any a pedicure service.

Touch Nail Spa also offers discounted prices for children age 11 and younger.

Both locations have plenty of technicians waiting to serve you, and Timmy promises that the customer service experience will always be top-notch. The Wesley Chapel Touch Nail Spa has 48 employees, while the slightly smaller New Tampa salon currently has 32 employees and Timmy is looking to hire a full-time receptionist for that location. Please call either location if you would like to apply.

Touch Nail Spa also now has e-gift cards available for all occasions that can be used at both locations. They are available for purchase at the spa’s website, TouchNail AndSpa.com.

Appointments are welcome if you want a service with a specific nail technician. For services with any available technician, please just walk in.

Noire Nail Bar Offers Peaceful Luxury & Safe Services

Walking into Noire Nail Bar, located just across S.R. 56 from Tampa Premium Outlets (near Mellow Mushroom), you immediately notice the quiet and relaxing ambiance and the lack of bustle. The serene, upscale décor (photo) is impressive.

John Nguyen, who owns Noire Nail Bar with his wife Vanessa, says the salon’s look and feel are intentional to cultivate a calm atmosphere.

“People come here to relax, because it’s very quiet,” John says. “Most salons are noisy and crowded, but Noire is peaceful and still.”

John and Vanessa opened Noire in 2018 and will celebrate three years in business later this year.

He says while Noire had to close temporarily during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic (as did every salon), when it re-opened in May, clients eagerly returned.

“They feel safe here,” he says. “We wear masks, wash our hands and keep our salon nice and clean.”

While cleanliness has always been a priority at Noire Nail Bar, John says the staff is now even more detailed and spends even more time on cleaning and making sure everything is completely sanitized for each client.

To serve clients safely, Noire asks that the following requirements are met: First, always wear a face cover, wash your hands when you arrive, and try to limit touching surfaces or objects as much as possible. They ask that all guests try to schedule their services during low-volume times, such as weekdays, whenever possible, and that you don’t bring any guests with you who are not receiving services. Finally,John says, please do not come in to Noire Nail Bar if you’re not feeling well.

“Especially with Covid, people want to avoid crowds,” John says. “If we get too busy, we ask people to come back at another time.”

Noire encourages appointments to be sure you’re not turned away.

Once you arrive, John says you will always be thrilled with the services you receive, which may include manicures, pedicures, massages, full sets, dipping powder, nail enhancements, eyelash extensions and waxing services for your face and body.

“We have a good team,” says John. “Our technicians make sure the customers are happy when they leave and they spend time taking care of them. We never rush.”

Lorraine Wiggins lives in Tampa Palms, where she says, “there’s a nail salon on every corner.”

But, she drives past all of them to get to Noire Nail Bar, often bringing her mom and/or her daughters along with her. “Noire has more space, and if we come in together, we can be in a little pod together,” Lorraine explains.

She’s referring to Noire Nail Bar’s separate area for pedicures, where chairs are grouped together. So, if you come in with friends or family, you can enjoy conversations with each other and you’re not spread out in a long line of salon chairs facing manicure stations.

This setup allows small groups privacy and intimacy in their time together.

“I loved finding this place,” Lorraine says. “It’s always so clean. I always get good service, and I love it aesthetically. It’s nice that there are separations between the pedicure chairs and the manicure stations.”

Lorraine owns a travel agency and says she has visited many spas all around the world.

“I recognize the level of luxury that’s offered here,” she says. “You can go to any strip mall and find a nail salon, but I come here because of the sense of calm and relaxation.”

She says that Noire’s prices also are comparable, especially because there are different levels of service to fit virtually every budget.

John explains that the range of different services includes everything from basic manicures and pedicures to Noire Nail Bar’s Signature Spa Pedicure and its unique Special Care Spa.

John says that the Signature Spa Pedicure is the “ultimate treat for your feet,” with a therapeutic lavender rub that exfoliates dry skin while citrus sugar relieves and moisturizes your tired feet. That is followed by an extensive moisturizing lotion massage and a hot towel wrap.

Meeting Your Special Needs

Noire’s Special Care Spa is designed to cater to clients with special needs, such as the elderly and those with diabetes who may have cracked heels, thick calluses, extra thick or ingrown toenails — anything that requires extra time, attention or precautions.

There also are additional services offered, such as hot stone and hot candle wax massages and special prices on manicure and pedicure combos. Prince and Princess manicures and pedicures are available for kids ages 12 and under.

And, Noire Nail Bar always offers its clients a glass of wine, soft drink or water with all services.

“We have a great selection of colors, and top gel and dipping powder brands like OPI, SNS, DND and Chisel,” John says.

Noire Nail Bar also offers all of its services for birthday parties, bridal showers and other events. Be sure to call ahead to reserve your time and services in a space just for you and your guests.

Noire Nail Bar offers 10% off all services every Monday through Wednesday, if you use the coupon from the ad on pg. 26 of this issue. A 10% discount also is offered on your birthday, with proper identification proving that it’s your birthday.

Noire Nail Bar is located at 25682 Sierra Center Blvd., Lutz, and is open Mon.-Sat., 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sun. For appointments or for more information, call (813) 536-0161. The ad, with coupon for 10% off every Mon.-Wed., is on page 26 of our upcoming New Tampa issue.
